Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904)

Songs my Mother taught me, op. 55 no. 4

With roots in the Pontiac and Ottawa regions, soprano Meghan Lindsay's career has taken her to concert halls and opera houses throughout North America and Europe, including recent productions at Opera Atelier in Toronto and the Royal Opera House at the Palace of Versailles.  She and her husband have recently relocated from Chicago to the Chelsea region, so Pontiac Enchanté is thrilled to be able to present Meghan as a 'newly local' musical presence.  In this program, she and pianist Carson Becke are delighted to be giving the Canadian premiere of Rebecca Clarke's monumental 'Binnorie', an epic ballad based on a gruesome traditional Scottish folk tale.  Thought to be written around 1942, the manuscript was discovered in her personal papers after her death, and was published for the first time in 2002.
