The Ironwood Quartet is made up of four dynamic and passionate Canadian musicians.  During the short years since their debut in 2014, Ironwood has become one of Canada’s premiere chamber music ensembles, achieving critical acclaim for their “take no prisoners” approach to performing.  Originally from Edmonton, Saskatoon, Vancouver, and PEI and with musical interests ranging from Beethoven and Ravel to Philip Glass, Ukrainian and American folk music, Tango and Radiohead, their programming reflects a belief in the power of great music to unite.  To find out more about them, visit their website here.

Visual Artist Spotlight:

Diane Lemire, fabric/felt artist

Diane Lemire is a multidisciplinary artist. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, nature, and her own life. She creates mixed-media sculptures, textile art, and paintings that evoke a sense of time, place, and forgotten memories.  For the past 15 years, Diane has experimented with felting techniques, seduced by the ancient craft of working with wool. She is always exploring new ways to bring together natural fibres and recycled materials. All of her pieces involve reclaiming materials, selecting found objects, and imagining stories. This lengthy, intuitive, and selective process is central to her work.  Read more about Diane and get a sense of her work here.

Junior Artist Series:

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jean-Hee Lee is an adjunct professor of Violin at Ottawa University, and maintains a private studio with Ottawa Suzuki Strings.  She is also the co-artistic director of the Equinox Chamber Music Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Read more about her here.
