'Gracias a la vida'

"Gracias a la vida" or "Thanks to Life" is the title of Chilean folk singer Violetta Parra's renowned anthem and the driving force behind this program. Cellist Julia MacLaine, soprano Meghan Lindsay, clarinetist Juan Olivares, and pianist Carson Becke unite for an evening dedicated to the exploration of Spanish and Latin American works for piano, clarinet, cello, and voice, with a special focus on the contributions of female composers. This concert features works by Manuel de Falla, Fernando Obradors, Clarice Assad, Osvaldo Golijov, and Andrea Casarrubios, as well as original arrangements of Violetta Parra's iconic ballad.
