Tapeo

Cameron Crozman, cello

Philip Chiu, piano

Program:

Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966)

Requiebros

Maurice Ravel (1875-1937)

Pièce en forme de Habañera (arr. Bazelaire)

This concert will be in celebration of Cameron Crozman and Philip Chiu's new album by the same title - Tapeo - which will be released on the ATMA Classique label in January 2021.  Cameron has written the following about the album:

'Philip Chiu and I's second album together, Tapeo, takes its name from a small tapas bar in the heart of Barcelona. It's where I spent my first ever evening in Spain, and where I fell in love with its food and culture while sitting at a packed counter with a glass of wine and a delicious selection of those famous small plates in front of me. But it wasn't until when the pandemic took hold in March that I finally put two and two together, realizing that it might be fun to try combining my love of Spanish food and music into a musical rendition of a tapas party. Lucky for me, Phil was also in the mood for some musical partying. Each of the short pieces on this program was chosen for its own unique flavour, giving a musical taste of Spain’s incredibly diverse and rich culture. And just as Spanish food would be unthinkable without the tomatoes and potatoes of the New World, so too it felt like a tapas-themed program would be incomplete without a couple gems from Hispanic America.'
